Memorial Weekend Picnic

Hi All,

So far I have heard from Renee and I am posting her reply here. Eric and I will plan to be at the park at 4 pm so that we can stake out a spot early for all of us. We will stay for the fire works and it sounds like the Fry's plan to do the same. I will check email and the blog frequently before Saturday afternoon so if you plan to come or have questions let us know. You can call us if you like too. 706-868-1874

I think it would be great fun to go to the park later. There is some time after the concert and performances are over and before the fireworks start that the kids can mingle on the grassy areas. We would need to stake out our spot early if there is to be a whole passel of us. Last year, we brought our own dogs to eat, already cooked and I think, some snacks. Water is a must. One of the county buildings will be open for bathroom needs as well as a water fountain for the refill of our water bottles. There was some vendors there last time. I cant remember what they sold, we didn't buy anything. If you need anything else, let me know.

Memorial Day Party

All,

I swang by the park behind Evans Library. It's a beautiful location with lots of tall trees, a fenced-in pond with a water fountain, a gazebo over the water, a 1/3 mile walking trail, a small playground designed for 5-12 year olds, and the Columbia County amphitheater. There aren't any BBQ pits, though, so no fire... for now. :)

Of great importance, though, are the other activities taking place on Saturday at the government center on Ronald Reagan drive. Saturday night from 7pm to 9:30pm on the lawn in front of the courthouse is a FREE!!!! celebration for veteran's which culminates with a firework show. I like FREE. A loooooooooooot.

So, there's the information. Now, do we change the time? Get together for the free shows (the army band from Ft. Gordon will be there and the Augusta Children's Chorale will perform plus other fun stuff) and fireworks?

I'm all for moving the time either a little earlier or getting together in conjunction with the shows. Plus, I really like fireworks.
